Inter IKEA Systems B.V. has chosen Epson UltraChrome K3 printers to produce digital proofs for the IKEA catalogue. It is the world’s largest annually printed publication distributed in over 34 countries worldwide with an expected 174 million copies to be produced in 2006. Inter IKEA Systems has deployed stringent quality standards to ensure consistent colour accuracy is achieved in the production of the catalogue.
During production of its UltraChrome K3 printer range, Epson incorporates a sophisticated testing process to ensure uniformity of output between printers. This is important to Inter IKEA Systems because it provides accurate, stable and highly consistent proofs that can be verified to match their quality control targets at any production stage and in any location.
The complete system chosen includes Epson UltraChrome K3 large format printers and GMG ColorProof software. It will be used by Inter IKEA Systems and its prepress partners worldwide. By implementing a defined standard, Inter IKEA Systems can ensure consistent results throughout the process.
Marc Tinkler, Senior Business Development Manager, Epson Europe says, “IKEA recognizes the importance of operating a high-quality, stable workflow for its proofing requirements. Its thorough search for the right digital proofing system and its evaluation of the solutions in the market is testament to its commitment to quality control. Epson UltraChrome K3 large format printing technology is known for its reliable and consistent colour output and we are delighted that it has been chosen to play a key role within the IKEA catalogue production process.”
